Terms and Conditions
Effective January 1, 2026
J&L Rochester Insulation Company, rochesterinsulationcompany.com, estimates@rochesterinsulationcompany.com
Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover how you use the J&L Rochester Insulation Company website and how we work with you when you hire us. We're an insulation contractor in Rochester, MN, and we wrote this page in plain language so you know where you stand before our crew sets foot in your attic.
By using this site, asking for an estimate or scheduling work with us, you agree to these terms. If a signed estimate or written agreement for your job says something different, that document controls for that job. If you don't agree with these terms, please don't use the site, and call us so we can talk it through.
What we do
We insulate and air seal homes and some commercial buildings in Rochester and the cities around it. That includes attics, walls, basements and crawl spaces, blown-in and spray foam insulation, vapor barriers and removing old insulation. You can read more about our crew on our about us page and see the full list of services from the home page.
What's on this website is general information about insulation and how we work. It isn't advice for your particular house. Your written estimate describes the work we'll actually do for you.
Estimates and pricing
We give free on-site estimates, with no pressure and no obligation. An estimate is based on what we can see and measure during the visit, such as how many inches are already up there, how easy the attic is to reach and how old the house is.
Some things only show up once the job is open, like old insulation that's wet or full of droppings, gaps around lights and pipes we couldn't see, or damage in the framing. If we find something that changes the scope or the price, we'll stop, show you what we found and get your OK before doing any extra work. We won't bill you for added work you didn't approve.
An estimate is good for the time written on it. After that, material costs may have changed, so we may need to update it.
Scheduling, delays and cancellation
We'll agree on a start date with you and let you know how long the crew expects to be at your house. Weather, material delays, illness or something we find once the work starts can push a date back, and when that happens we'll call you as soon as we know and set a new day.
If you need to cancel or move your appointment, please let us know as early as you can. If you cancel after we've ordered materials just for your job, or after the crew has arrived, we may charge for those materials and that time, and your written estimate will say so if it applies.
Your part of the job
We need safe access to the areas we're working in, so please clear stored items away from the attic hatch, crawl space entrance and work areas before we arrive. Let us know about anything we should watch for, such as known roof leaks, old wiring or pets that might get out.
Some products, spray foam especially, mean people and pets need to stay out of the house for a while after we finish. We'll tell you before the job when you need to leave and when it's safe to come back in, and you agree to follow those instructions and the product maker's instructions we pass along.
Payment
Your written estimate or agreement will say whether a deposit is due, how much is due and when the balance is due. Unless it says otherwise, the balance is due when the work is done.
If a payment is late, we may hold off on any remaining work until it's settled, and we may add reasonable collection costs where Minnesota law allows. If you have a question about a bill, call us before the due date so we can sort it out.
Our guarantee and what it doesn't cover
We're licensed and insured, and we stand behind our work with a satisfaction guarantee on every job. If something about the installation isn't right, tell us and we'll come back and make it right.
Insulation products carry their own warranties from the companies that make them, and we'll pass those along to you. Beyond our guarantee and those product warranties, we don't make other promises, written or implied, to the extent Minnesota law allows.
We don't promise a specific drop in your power bill or a specific temperature in any room, because those depend on weather, how you run your heating and cooling, and parts of the house we didn't work on. Our guarantee doesn't cover problems caused by roof leaks, plumbing leaks, pests, other contractors' work, or changes someone else makes to our work after we leave.
Limits on our liability
If something goes wrong because of our work, our responsibility is limited to fixing that work or, if we can't, refunding what you paid for it. We aren't responsible for indirect losses, such as lost time, lost rent or higher utility costs.
We also aren't responsible for conditions that were already in the house before we started, such as hidden water damage, mold, pests or wiring problems, though we'll tell you if we come across them. Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that Minnesota law says can't be limited.
Settling a disagreement
If you're unhappy with anything, call us at (507) 512-1787 or reach us through our contact page first. Most problems get fixed with a conversation and a return visit.
If we can't work it out together, we both agree to try mediation in good faith before either of us goes to court. Either of us can still bring a claim in conciliation court, Minnesota's small claims court, if it qualifies.
Minnesota law applies
These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of Minnesota. Any court case about them will be handled in the state or federal courts serving Olmsted County, Minnesota.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, and the newest version will always be on this page. Changes don't apply to work you've already signed an estimate or agreement for, unless we both agree in writing.
Questions about these terms
If anything here is unclear, call us at (507) 512-1787 or send a message through our contact page. We reply within 1 business day and we're glad to walk you through any part of it.
